The Author Obsession
Born and raised on the west side of Chicago. When I was 15 years old, I enrolled in Young Chicago Authors, a writing program for high school kids who had a thing for the written word. Attending YCA was easily one of the best experiences of my life. YCA is where I developed the courage to perform my work in spoken word form. In 2001, I graduated from both traditional high school and YCA. I went on to study early childhood education, criminal justice, and psychology. With my schooling, I became a child care worker and remained one for 16 years, before leaving the field June 2015. On a dare from an old friend, in 2010, I began writing my first novel Climatic Successions. Once I started, I was hooked. Writing stories would replace poetry as my true love. 7 years later, I’ve published 11 stories and 5 poetry books.
